- Διδάσκουμε σχεδόν όλα τα είδη χορού, Ελληνικούς, Ευρωπαϊκούς, Λατινοαμερικάνικους, Μοντέρνο (Jazz/Hip Hop/ R&B...), Οριεντάλ


- Τα Χορευτικά Συγκροτήματα του Σωματείου μπορούν να πλαισιώσουν οποιαδήποτε εκδήλωση είτε ως χορευτές είτε ως παραστάτες (επιγραμματικά αναφέρουμε ότι έχουμε συμμετάσχει στα παρακάτω:
Τελετές Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων 2004, Τελετές Παγκόσμιων και Ευρωπαϊκών Κυπέλλων διάφορων αθλημάτων, Δεξιώσεις, Χοροεσπερίδες Συλλόγων, Γαμήλια Πάρτυ, Φεστιβάλ Χορού, Συναυλίες με γνωστούς καλλιτέχνες κ.α.)


- Τα Χορευτικά Συγκροτήματα έχουν προσκληθεί να εκπροσωπήσουν την Ελλάδα σε παγκόσμια Φεστιβάλ Χορού όπως στο Βέλγιο, τη Γαλλία, τη Γερμανία, την Τσεχία και το Μαρόκο, προσκεκλημμένοι από τον ίδιο το Βασιλιά


- Διοργανώνουμε εκδηλώσεις για ιδιώτες, για μεγάλους οργανισμούς, για εταιρίες, πάρτυ κ.α. και όλα τα παραπάνω οπουδήποτε μας ζητήσετε (ξενοδοχεία, σπίτια, παραλίες, αίθουσες κ.λ.π)


- Οι Χοροδιδάσκαλοι του Σωματείου διδάσκουν σε Δημόσια Σχολεία και Συλλόγους (1ο Δημ. Αμαρουσίου, 1ο, 10ο & 19ο Δημ. Ζωγράφου, 1ο & 7ο Δημ. Αθηνών κ.α.)


- Οι Χοροδιδάσκαλοι του Σωματείου διδάσκουν σε Σεμινάρια Ελληνικών Χορών στην Ελλάδα (Κρήτη, Σκιάθο, Ευβοια, Φλώρινα, Κόρινθο κ.α.) και στο Εξωτερικό (Αμερική, Αγγλία, Γαλλία, Ιταλία, Βέλγιο, Ολλανδία, Γερμανία, Βουλγαρία κ.α.)


- Διδάσκουμε σε Μελλόνυμφους σε ταχύρρυθμα τμήματα Ελληνικούς, Λατινοαμερικάνικους και Ευρωπαϊκούς Χορούς


- Διδάσκουμε σε φοιτητές ΤΕΦΑΑ με σκοπό την προετοιμασία τους για τις εξετάσεις και να εμπλουτίσουν τις γνώσεις τους


- Οι Χοροδιδάσκαλοι του Σωματείου έχουν κάνει λαογραφική έρευνα στους χορούς και γενικά τον πολιτισμό της ιδιαίτερης πατρίδας τους, την έχουν δημοσιεύσει στο κοινό και είναι αναγνωρισμένοι στο εξωτερικό για το ταλέντο τους, τη μεταδοτικότητα και τη γνώση τους

GREEK FOLKLORE ASSOCIATION “THE NAIADS”

SHORT CV

The Greek Folklore Association “The Naiads” was founded the October of 1998 in Athens, Greece. The Association, a non-profit club, was founded by 25 members, folklore scientists, musicians, choreographers, professors etc.

The choreographers are Mary Markaki and Vangelis Vrakas. Both of them have been dancers for many years at the Dora Stratou Theatre in Athens, as they were also members in many dance groups in Athens. They have spent many years on the research of Greek Civilization and they were those who had the inspiration of “The Naiads” foundation.

Main activities

Ø Courses on Traditional Dances, Instruments and Songs

Ø Participation with our dancing groups in performances in Athens, other cities in Greece and abroad

-Most Remarkable In Greece : many dance festivals such as at Argiroupoli, Kolonos, Katrakio Theatre, many music festivals that needed a dance group, such as at Vrahon Theatre with Giorgos Dalaras, Glikeria…., Opening Ceremony of Conflict Championship, Ceremonies of Athens Olympic Games on 2004 and many others, Carnival festivals of Municipality of Zografou and Piraeus (every year the last 6 years) and many other festivals.

-Most Remarkable Abroad: Marocco-invited by the king to dance in his palace, Belgium- performances of 10 days in many cities, Germany-festival of 8 days with participant groups from 7 countries, France-performances in Paris during 4 days and others. None of the festival had the character of competition and awarding.

Ø Organization of performances (not only with our participation, but also as choreographers we have organized many times performances of schools in children festivals around Greece)

Ø Organization of training workshops : we invite a teacher of dances that has also make research at his place of birth or origin, who teaches dances, songs, presents to us the costume of his region and brief us with infos from his research on the culture of of his origin.

Ø We organize every summer (July-August) a 10 days Workshop on Greek Traditional Dances. The participants are mostly foreigners that love Greek dances and they spend 10 days at Crete, in a 4 stars hotel on the beach. The attend 3-4,5 hrs/day dance courses from 5-6 areas of Greece, they have time to swim and relax and at nights we visit local villages that organize local festivities with live music, plenty of wine and Cretan specialties and have the chance to dance with great Cretan dancers.

Ø We danced in a production of 4 DVDs with 38 dances from the most areas of Greece “Dance in the Greek Tradition” that our teacher Mary Markaki shows each dance, counts the steps and the group dances

Ø Research on civilization from the whole World: Some members are occupied with the research, e.g. they look for carnival customs that were lost during the last year, they commit the elements and they produce/saw costumes that the dancing groups use them to show the customs in performances.

WORKSHOP ON GREEK DANCES AT CRETE

A Seminar on Greek Traditional Dances, 5-16/8/2006 will be organized in Crete (village Almyrida-Chania), and we propose you to join it and enjoy traditional Cretan life, dancing lessons with 6 teachers and holidays !!!

Our previous experience on organizing such seminars and your own demands, oblige us to organize the 2006 seminar in a village, where we’ll have the chance to live with Cretans, stay in a very good hotel, on the beach and have workshops with some of the best choreographers, who have done great research in their field of expertise !

Location: Almyrida is a fishing village, just developed but remained unspoilt. It’s been characterized as an area of many beauties, has crystal clear waters, organized and safe beaches awarded with the blue flag every year that are also home to water sports (you can also dive and fish). The hills with the olive trees, which go as far as the beaches and the mountain range of the Lefka Ori in the south, give the area a cool climate. Historically, the whole area used to be the colony of the ancient civilization Finikes. Ruins and ancient tombs exist there from the old times. The traditional villages of the area in combination with the hospitality of the people and the traditional Cretan food & wine, will make your vacation mostly pleasant.

The Hotel: We’ll stay at Almyrida Beach Hotel & Studios, 4 stars hotel, that is exactly on the beach of the village (www.almyridabeach.com).The rooms provide A/C, SatTV, Fridge, Hairdryer, Bath, Radio, Direct Dial Telephone, sea/mountain view balconies. The hotel also provides bars, swimming pools and also (at local charge) Jacuzzi, Safe deposit box and Mini Bar. In the hotel restaurants are served real Cretan specialties.

Pedagogy: 38-40 hrs dancing lessons (most hrs in the morning in A/Ced conference room) from CRETE, GREEK ISLANDS by Mary Markaki, Yiannis Megalakakis, Spiros Stratas, PONTOS by Nikos Zournatzides, ASIA MINOR (Cappadocia, Erithrea, Kato Panagia…) and MACEDONIA-DRAMA (“Dopia”) by Alexandros Karatzoglou, MACEDONIA Gen. and SERRES by Vassilis Terzis. A Briefing on the traditional dances, songs/music, costumes, customs etc. will be given by each choreographer about his field. Also, we’ll give emphasis to male and female “solos”, style and we’ll work on figures in dances like Balos, Gaida, Serra,etc

Activities : A daily excursion, visit of other villages, “panegyria”(local festivities), parties with musicians and games on the beach will be organized. Also, you’ll have a few free mornings & evenings to do whatever you like.

Useful Infos Airports: Chania is 27Km away and Heraklion is 187 Km. Souda’s Port(Chania) is 19Km. Regular bus service connects daily the hotel to the town of Chania (20Km) and all the surrounding villages.

The cost: Includes 11 days accommodation, half board (breakfast & dinner) in the hotel, dancing lessons, CD, transp. expenses for an excursion and is Euros 680 in room for 4, Euros 750 triple room, Euros 850 double room. The cost for singles & lunch can be given upon request, as also more details on daily agenda & payment (One dinner will be replaced by lunch, when we’ll plan to eat in another village)

Registration Deadline: Until 1st of May 2006. Beware, August in Crete/Greece is the favorite month for everybody, so book flights / boat tickets before May, as then it will be difficult to find those you prefer

A Workshop onGreek Traditional Dances, during 16-25/7/2007 will be organized in Crete, in the village Almyrida at Chania, and we propose you to join it and enjoy real traditional Cretan Life, Dancing Lessons and Holidays !!!


As all of you know, Chania (city and whole area) is one of the most beautiful areas of Crete, Almyrida village is in the middle of all the villages that keep tradition in their daily life and those that organize local festivities are only 2-7 kms away from our hotel, so you’ll have the chance to live with Cretans, stay in a very good hotel, on the beach & with pools, and dance with the best Choreographers of Greek dances, really experts on their field of expertise !

Pedagogy: 3-6 hrs/day dancing lessons (in A/Ced room) from ANATOLIKI ROMILIA by PRATSIDIS Iannis PONTOS by ZOURNATZIDIS Nikos, CRETE & GREEK ISLANDS (Aegean/Ionion Sea) by MARKAKI Mary and MEGALAKAKIS Yiannis (Crete) and hopefully from CYPRUS by SAMOURIDIS Elias & Savas. A Briefing on the traditional dances, songs, music, costumes, customs etc. will be given by each choreographer. Also, we’ll give emphasis to male and female “solos” and the difficulty of style.

Activities : In our projects are: 1-2 daily excursions to Venizelo’s Graves, Falasarna, Elafonisi, Kandanos or/and Rethimnon, Frangokastelo, Sfakia, Embrosneros, visit villages with museums, local products and a factory of blown glass, “panigyria” (local festivities), as also to organize a party with local musicians, games on the beach and a tournament of bowling in the facilities of our hotel !!! You will also have free time to spend as you wish.
